We are two brothers from North London. We grew up loving football. Then work took over, and we found ourselves falling behind on the game we love. It was easy to keep up with the results and match plays, but there was nowhere to succinctly understand everything else surrounding the game. You may know the feeling.So, we started writing the thing we wished existed. A crisp newsletter delivered every day, covering every significant world football story in one shot.
Although we started our writing mostly for ourselves, we had two rules from the start. Respect the reader's time. Respect their intelligence. Our initial audience was just friends and family, but word spread, and community grew. Our readers grew in number and stayed with us. Apparently, we were not the only ones who wanted something different.
Nearly 70,000 people now read us every day. The RouteOne community is loyal and committed. In return, we give them a way to follow the game without needing multiple subscriptions. We made a decision early on. RouteOne would not be funded by the things that bend football coverage out of shape. By forces that pay little respect to your time or your intelligence. That decision has meant turning down money. Betting firms are the biggest spenders in this sport, and their funding would be transformational, but we have always refused the offer. It would be the easiest source of revenue, but our red lines are clear. We cannot claim to respect your time and your intelligence and then sell you something designed to waste both. But those principles have a price.
