EPL TITLE RACE
Liverpool now major favourites to win the title, Optaâs latest predictions reveal
Liverpool now have a 69.5% chance of winning the Premier League this season, according to Optaâs latest predictions. Thatâs up from 60.3% after the last round of fixtures, following the Redsâ 3-2 win over Southampton and Manchester Cityâs 4-0 loss to Tottenham.
While City started the season with an 82.8% chance of winning the title, Opta now gives them a 23.3% chance. Arsenal's chances of glory rose slightly after their 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest. The Gunners are now at 6.5%, up from 5%. Interestingly, though, the betting markets place Liverpool and Arsenal above City in their title predictions.
Arne Slotâs side have the toughest stretch of their season ahead. Until the end of the year, Liverpool face City, Newcastle, Everton, Fulham, Tottenham, Leicester and West Ham. They must also balance Champions League fixtures against Real Madrid (on Wednesday) and Girona, as well as a Carabao Cup tie away to Southampton.

> Salah says heâs âmore out than inâ at Liverpool. Mohamed Salah, who has scored 12 goals in all competitions this season, says he hasnât received an offer from his club for next season. After claiming he was âmore out than inâ the club, he admitted he was âdisappointedâ that Liverpool hadnât tabled a new contract. In September, the Egyptian said it was his last season at the club. But itâs thought this was part of Salahâs implicit negotiating tactic with his club. Insiders say that thereâs a gap between what Salah is asking for and what Liverpool are willing to offer. The futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, who are also out of contract this summer, are also uncertain.
> Charltonâs missing World Cup-winning shirt has been found. England captain Bobby Charltonâs missing 1966 World Cup-winning shirt was found in Wales. The red No 6 jersey, estimated to be worth more than ÂŁ1mn, was last seen in his former wife Tina Mooreâs home in Essex. It is now reportedly in possession of Britainâs biggest collector of football memorabilia, a tyre tycoon named Neville Evans.
> Madrid click as Mbappe and Vinicius swap positions. Kylian Mbappe scored his first goal in five games after switching positions with Vinicius Jr. The Frenchman scored the opener in Real Madridâs 3-0 La Liga win at Leganes after starting on the left side of the attack. "I started in a different position than in recent games," MbappĂŠ said afterwards. "But as I said the first day I arrived here, I can play in different positions.â Manager Carlo Ancelotti made the change because he felt Mbappe was comfortable playing on the left and was fresher than Vinicius Jr as he was left out of the France squad. Mbappe has scored seven goals in 12 league appearances for Madrid.
ALTERNATIVE LEAGUE LAUNCHED
Ex-professionals and internet celebrities announce a new league, launch in 2025
A star-studded list of former players and internet personalities have announced a newly launched âBaller Leagueâ for the US and UK. Itâs set to begin in 2025. Those involved include Gary Lineker, John Terry, Ronaldinho, Luis Figo, Robert Pires, Micah Richards and many more.
The competition has been popular in Germany since Mats Hummels and Lukasz Podolski launched it earlier this year. Itâs a competitive six-a-side tournament that combines the traditional game with new rules. The league will feature 12 teams consisting of 12 players with games played over two 15-minute halves. It will include a mix of ex-professionals and YouTube celebrities as players and managers. See a video of a final that took place last month here.
Some unique rules include: goals from the back two-thirds of the pitch count double, and 1v1s to settle games. Another unique aspect of the competition is that it will be live-streamed for free on Twitch.
